Twisted Pictures
Twisted Pictures are a well-known independent production company who best known for the creation of the popular horror franchise: Saw. Their animated intro is effective for several reasons.
The logo itself has several links to the earliest of horrors due to the stake which comes flying down into an overlay of barbed wire. At the start of the intro the words 'Twisted Pictures' can be seen fading in whilst a mass of barb wire wraps around each word before twisting at each corner. Shortly after a stake drops down and suddenly twists which in-turn tightens the barb wire. The use of a stake provides a link to early horror movies which were commonly used in belief that they could kill vampires. By doing this they immediately establish that the company has strong links to horror and a deep understanding as to how the genre has evolved - making it appealing and effective to all audiences.
When creating our intro we took the strong link that was created from Twisted's name and their intro and applied it to ours. By creating an intro which features a Pentagram like our production name we believe that we can replicate this and therefore be successful also.

Blumhouse Productions
Blumhouse Productions are an American production company who was founded by Jason Blum in 2000. They are well known for the production of several low-budget, micro films such as: Paranormal Activity, Insidious, The Purge, Sinister and the Ouija franchise.
The Blumhouse intro has several links to horror as it follows the code and conventions which we expect from all horror films. Firstly the camera is handheld. We usually expect this movement to be used in several low budget productions as it is an easy way to show vulnerability and a first person perspective. The use of floating objects has links to paranormal activity - one of Blumhouse's franchises. By using this in their intro Blumhouse are establishing the fact that we may expect to see several elements of paranormal in their films and so will make the audience feel uneasy. Several links to old horror films are also in place which gives suggestions that the codes and conventions of the earliest of films will be used. A victorian girl can be seen wearing a plain white dress. This is often associated as a ghost or spirit and so suggests that the audience may see this within the film.
When taking inspiration from Blumhouse when creating our intro we will aim to follow the various codes and conventions used in horror today.

Hammer Films
Founded in 1934, Hammer Films are a British production company based in London. They are best known for the creation of Gothic 'Hammer Horror' films which they produced from the mid-1950s until the 1970s. In years to follow, Hammer expanded to produce a variety of different genres as well as a TV series. Since then, Hammer have produced several films such as: Let Me In, The Resident and The Woman In Black.
Hammer's intro is very basic but effective. It feature a basic, flat font which draws attention to the name of the production company. Inside of this are several moving images which show the various characters included in previous films produced by themselves. Although this represents various elements of horror, it does not make the audience feel scared or worried about the film that they are about to view. Due to this, they may be able to shock the audience by producing some of the scariest films to date. Furthermore, the intro features an almost blood-like red which can be related to death, evil and horror.
